Prague 1968-1989
This tour will take you back to the communist era in Czechoslovakia. We will start at the Museum of Communism, where I will tell you the history of Czechoslovakia in the 20th century and you will see more authentic everyday life under the socialist regime. The exhibition will give you a better understanding of the period. Then I will take you to the main streets and places where our history was written. You will see the National Museum, which was shelled by Soviet tanks during the occupation in 1968. We will talk about two victims of that period who committed suicide. We will visit the Lucerna Palace, associated with the family of Vaclav Havel, the last Czechoslovak and the first Czech president. We will then follow the trail of November 1989 and visit the placewhere Czechoslovak students were brutally beaten. Then we go to the German Embassy, which played an important role for GDR refugees in 1989.
